Weight loss surgery has become a great way to fight obesity. Many people struggle with losing weight solely through diet and exercise, so it is wonderful that there is another option. Weight loss surgery patients experience fast weight loss with bariatric surgery, which is wonderful because you are able to receive immediate gratification. However, often loose skin comes with this fast weight loss. So, why does loose skin happen and is there anything you can do to prevent it? Let’s talk about it.

The pre-op diet for weight loss surgery can be extremely challenging. In my opinion, it is the most difficult stage of the entire journey. This is because you have to be on an extremely strict diet prior to the procedure and since you haven’t had the surgery yet, you are just as hungry as ever! You have to be able to resist foods and get control without the help of the surgery. It can be really difficult because you don’t have the tool of the surgery yet. However, it is important to follow the guidelines because the purpose of the pre-op diet is to shrink your liver prior to surgery. If you don’t do it, you could risk having complications.

As a weight loss surgery patient, you will find that it is extremely important to be surrounded by healthy minded individuals. It can be really easy to fall off the wagon if you don’t have the right support system motivating you. One of the hardest things to overcome after bariatric surgery is trying to make healthy changes when your partner or someone you spend a significant amount of time with does not want to make those healthy changes as well.
