Weight Loss Transformation Story

Surgery type: Gastric Sleeve (VSG)
Surgery date: August, 12 2016
Pre-surgery weight: 249
Post-op weight: 232
Current weight: 162

I have been heavy most of my life, since about second grade I noticed I was bigger than the other kids.  By third grade the other kids began to notice and they were very vocal about it.  I grew up ridiculed and teased, with a brief break in junior high when I got down to about a size 12.  But by freshman year I was a size 14, sophomore year, 16, and junior year I became pregnant and had a child, and hovered around a size 18-20 for years.  I was a binge eater and general over-eater who loved fast food, pizza, and sweets, and I was out of control.

When I was 23 I was about 230 pounds and I went on the Atkins diet and had great success, getting down to 156 pounds (for only one day!) in June of 2004.  By 2007 I was back up over 210 pounds, and in 20014 my weight had gotten back into the 240's and my triglycerides were over 600!!!  I could not keep it off, no matter how much I tried to eat low carb again, I could only do it for a few weeks or a couple of months before I would crack and binge.  Over the years I would lose 20, 30, or 40 pounds here or there, but at one point I know I was at least 260 pounds even without a scale, in a size 24.

In summer of 2016 my sister in law told us she was going to have VSG surgery, so I looked into that more.  I had previously only known about bypass and lap band, and I immediately felt this was something that could help me reclaim my health and get out of the low carb yo yo diet cycle I was in.  Most of the women in my family are diabetic and I was at least pre-diabetic if not un-diagnosed diabetic, my fasting blood sugar was usually over 110 (I had done keto for a while and would test my fasting blood sugar to try and see if I were in ketosis).  I had flexural psoriasis that would show up when I was not low carbing, because I was insulin resistant.  I was tired all the time, my feet would hurt on a regular basis because I stand for several hours a day for my job, and I was developing back issues.

I went to Mexico and had VSG on August 12, 2016.  My high weight in 2016 was 249, my surgery weight was 232, and at just under 11 months post op I am 163.2 as of today, July 8th!  My ultimate goal weight was a range between 147-160 so I am almost at the top of that range, and I do have a tummy tuck and breast lift scheduled for August 8th, one month from today!

Since having VSG I have learned so much about nutrition, vitamins (I've been taking the BariMelts biotin since before surgery!), and have changed my relationship from one of comfort, to one of eating a balanced, healthy diet (with a few indulgences now and then but not daily), and I love my new outlook on food and life, and am looking forward to maintaining my goal!  My life is greatly improved overall.  I'm no longer so self conscious, I have greater self esteem and less fear of speaking in public and networking for my business, I can dress how I have always wanted without feeling limited on my fashion choices, my feet and back don't hurt and I have so much energy, my cholesterol and blood work are outstanding!  I am so grateful for my weight loss surgery that it has given me a better chance at living the life I have always wanted.

Pre-surgery weight: 333.5
Current weight: 216

Hi, my name is Dori and I had Gastric Sleeve surgery September 12, 2016.

I had tried my whole life to lose weight, but after having 6 children over the years, I figured it was my turn to take care of me. I decided to have weight loss surgery after speaking with a close friend who had done it. She looked fabulous and I knew since I tried everything else, this would be a great tool to use. And it was!

I can't believe there is a fantastic LIFE on this side that I get to LIVE. It is amazing to be able to run and walk and not get tired. The energy is great, and after taking BariMelts vitamins since before surgery and having my blood work tested and coming back perfect, I am hooked!

Weight Loss Transformation Story

Surgery type: RNY/Gastric Bypass
Surgery date: November 26, 2014
Pre-surgery weight: 293 lbs
Current weight: 165 lbs

Hi my name is Christina Garner and I had weight loss surgery in 2014. Before that, I was doing 5k runs, boxing and playing softball thinking I was healthy. I had a friend post a picture of me on Facebook one day. "Who is that?" I asked. I didn't recognize the person in the photo. My friend replied, "Are you kidding me? That is you!"

That picture changed my life.

I decided at that point since I could not recognize myself anymore and it was time for a change. I had high blood pressure, I was taking high blood pressure pills and giving myself a shot every night for diabetes.

I auditioned for The Biggest Loser every season for five seasons and was never selected, even though they told me I had a good chance each time. But after not being chosen again the last time, I decided that was the last straw.

Within nine months of deciding to check into Bariatric surgery I had my RNY Gastric Bypass and I lost 133 lbs in six months. My heaviest weight was 293 lbs my lowest weight was 160 lbs. Today, I'm currently staying between 165 and 170 lbs.

I have had many people tell me they're tired of hearing about my journey, but I have even more people saying don't listen to anyone to keep telling my story because I've been an inspiration to so many. I don't see myself as an inspiration, I just wanted to live!

Weight Loss Transformation Story
Surgery type: RNY/Gastric Bypass -  Future Revision To DS
Surgery date: August 2013
Pre-surgery weight: 523
Current weight: 300

I am 38 year old Military Wife, I started off at 523+ pounds today I weigh slightly over 300 pounds. I use my Youtube Channel to be a weight loss surgery and mental health advocate.

I have suffered with my weight and mental health issues all my life. It wasn't until 2012 that my journey really began, after being in a wheelchair for 12 years we were told I was dying. So my husband went into the military to get me the best insurance he could to save my life.

I have done so much since my gastric bypass August 2013. My journey has had many ups and downs, but I wouldn't trade a moment of it for the world. I am far from done, so in order to continue losing weight I am working on getting a revision from RNY-DS sometime this year.

I hope and pray that sharing my journey will help others to see it is never too late and to NEVER give up!

Today I weigh 160 pounds and I can run around and enjoy my sons!

Surgery date: August 23, 2016

Hi, I'm Jessica aka Watch Kitty Shrink on YouTube. I am 29 years old. I have never been "skinny" but started steadily gained weight at 19. Before my 20th birthday I was over 200 pounds and by 21 I was over 250 pounds.
I did fad diets for years, but never could stick to them and each year I was only ever up more weight. I'd lose 10 pounds and gain 15. My doctor told me it was time to start thinking about doing something major to lose the weight because my family medical history is riddled with diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart issues. I was on the borderline for them all.

So at 28, I made the choice to have weight loss surgery. I chose the Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy. My surgery was on August 23rd 2016 I was terrified as this would be my first operation, EVER! I am so glad I decided to do it.
I've lost a total of 133 pounds, went from a size 24 dress to a size 8, from 2x shirts to a small, and gained so much life that I didn't know I was missing out on. I can do so many more things now that I was always afraid to do before when I was heavy.

I am no longer on the borderline for ANY health issues-and for the first time in my entire life, I have confidence in myself.

I can't believe 8 months ago I had my Vertical Gastric Sleeve operation. This journey had been amazing, emotional and crazy!

The reason I had my WLS is because I wanted to see my niece grow up and be able to play with her. I wanted to go shopping in store that all my friends would shop at!

I have lost 125 pounds in 8 months! I try to work out everyday, I don't eat carbs or foods with high sugar!

I'm so thankful for this opportunity to better my life for me and my family!

Surgery date: August 2015
Pre-surgery weight: 349

I started my weight loss journey in August 2015 weighing in at 349 pounds. l decided to have gastric sleeve surgery. I was 27 years old with 2 kids and I was tired of feeling unhappy because of my weight.

My first change was the VGS surgery, and it was the tool I needed to really kick start my weight loss.

Fast forward to today and I have lost 155 pounds! I have adopted a healthier, more active lifestyle. I now exercise 4-5 times a week, follow a low carb high protein diet, and most importantly take my recommended BariMelts vitamins everyday.

Because of this, my routine labs are always within normal ranges and I have the energy I need to get through each day. I have not reached my goal weight yet, but am confident that I will. I have the playbook to succeed. I made the commitment and I'm ready to put in the hard work.

My WLS journey continues and I'm so excited for what lies ahead!
