Vitality is what you’re after. Without enough energy, it can be hard to achieve your best self. Following bariatric surgery, women often struggle to get enough iron — a critical nutrient that transports oxygen throughout the body.

Our bariatric iron, paired with Vitamin C, has a unique composition for enhanced absorption, making it easier to digest compared to other vitamins with iron and Vitamin C. Get and stay ahead of any iron deficiencies so you have the all-day energy to lead a healthy, active lifestyle.*

Melt in your mouth means it’s easy to take.

After bariatric surgery, you could experience certain vitamin deficiencies now that you’re eating less, and your stomach has changed. It’s essential for women like you to take supplements to help fill any nutritional gaps, yet we understand how hard it can be to swallow pills after surgery.

We developed our fast-dissolving Barimelts Iron + Vitamin C to melt quickly in the mouth, making nutrients readily available for absorption after ingestion. Our goal is to make your daily ritual tasty and enjoyable, so you can reach your health goals and embrace your new life to the fullest.

Your best self starts with daily essentials you look forward to taking.

    FAQs

Why do bariatric patients need iron supplements after bariatric surgery?

After bariatric surgery, a bariatric patient's body’s ability to absorb iron can be significantly reduced due to changes in the digestive system. Iron supplements help prevent iron deficiency and anemia, which are common in bariatric patients.

How much iron should I take after bariatric surgery?

The typical recommended dosage for bariatric patients is 45-60 mg of elemental iron per day. However, your healthcare provider may adjust this dosage based on your individual needs and blood test results.

    Why Barimelts® Iron + Vitamin C

Barimelts® Iron with vitamin C is formulated with carbonyl iron, which is gentler on the stomach and reduces the likelihood of common issues like nausea or constipation that patients may experience with other types of iron. The inclusion of vitamin C is crucial because it enhances iron absorption, ensuring that bariatric patients can efficiently maintain their iron levels. Additionally, the melt-in-your-mouth formulation makes it easy to take, especially for those with post-surgery sensitivities.

Can I take Barimelts® Iron with vitamin C with other vitamins and supplements?

Calcium can interfere with the absorption of iron. It’s best to take iron supplements and calcium supplements at different times of the day to ensure optimal absorption of both nutrients. However, consult with your healthcare provider before starting any new supplements to avoid potential interactions.

How should I take Barimelts® Iron with Vitamin C for best results?

Take Barimelts® Iron + Vitamin C with a meal to enhance absorption and reduce the risk of stomach upset. Avoid taking them with dairy products, coffee, or tea, as these can hinder iron absorption. Follow the instructions on the supplement label and your healthcare provider’s guidance for enhanced absorption.

Do these have to be taken on an empty stomach?
Hello Lynne, we recommend that iron be taken on an empty stomach in order to facilitate absorption and the most important thing is to never mix the iron with lactose (i.e. no iron with milk, cheese, yogurt, etc.) I hope this is helpful and please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with :) Al the best!
